Have you ever had a dream in which you knew you were dreaming? This is referred
to as lucid dreaming. The term was coined by Frederik van Eeden. Lucid dreams
are a wonderful opportunity for you to gain information about yourself.
Some schools of thought say that everything in your dream is an aspect of
yourself. Talk to the things in your dreams; whether it be animal,
vegetable, mineral, sentient being...whatever! Just talk to it. Ask if it has
any information for you. Ask whatever you want.
Have sex in your dreams. According to Vaishali in her You Are What You Love
Playbook, "The purpose of sex in a dream, lucid or otherwise, is self-integration....
Having sex in a dream is a union-forming action, generating great internal healing."
When you apply this to the mind set that everything in your dreams is a part
of you, it makes perfect sense.
Dr. Stephen LaBerge at the Lucidity Institute has some terrific tips on
lucid dreaming and how to have more of them. One of the things he has people
do is reality tests. When you test reality in the waking world, you will also
begin to do so in the dreaming world. This is a great way to become lucid.
Here is a test you can do: Carry a sentence with you throughout the day. To do
the test, read the words. Then, look away and look back, observing the sentence
to see if it has changed. You can look away and back several times each time you
set aside for the test. If the characters change or don't make sense, then you
are most likely dreaming. Enjoy! If the characters stay the same and are
sensible, then you are most likely awake.
